Heaven’s Weight was inspired by a powerful idea from the Chinese philosopher Mencius:

“When Heaven is about to confer a great responsibility on someone, it first tests them with suffering... to strengthen their mind, harden their nature, and correct their shortcomings.”

We don’t usually see pain, failure, or frustration as blessings. But maybe they are. Maybe the struggle isn’t the thing in the way — maybe it is the way.
